Some, you wish were true. Some, you wish never happened.

“We are, as a species, addicted to story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories.”

From an atheist’s point of view

Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if defending one’s faith makes one narrow-minded like suddenly, everything’s about them. Just about them. If my observation is correct, then I’d rather not believe in anything at all. My heart goes out even to those who do not share my faith, and I want to keep it that way.

You heartless pieces of sh*t

You don’t take in puppies and discard them as soon as the excitement wears off. If you’re not ready for a long-term responsibility, just don’t. If you can easily toss them away, then you’re not worth their love and loyalty. Leave them to those who have a heart for furry creatures.

The Rapture

“Everybody is waiting for the end to come, but what if it already passed us by? What if the final joke of Judgment Day was that it had already come and gone and we were none the wiser? Apocalypse arrives quietly; the chosen are herded off to heaven, and the rest of us, the ones who failed the test, just keep on going, oblivious. Dead already, wandering around long after the gods have stopped keeping score, still optimistic about the future.”

#AsATeacher

That awkward moment when the preacher keeps pronouncing “bear as “burr” (“fur” as “par”, “fish” as “piss”, and so on) and you keep correcting him inside your head because as an ESL teacher, it has become autopilot for you to notice even the tiniest language error.

Koi No Yokan

“There’s a Japanese phrase that I like: ‘koi no yokan’.
It doesn’t mean love at first sight. It’s closer to love at second sight. It’s the feeling when you meet someone that you’re going to fall in love with them. Maybe you don’t love them right away, but it’s inevitable that you will.”
— Nicola Yoon, The Sun is Also a Star

Because small talk is boring.

“I hate small talk. I want to talk about atoms, death, aliens, sex, magic, intellect, the meaning of life, faraway galaxies, music that makes you feel different, memories, the lies you’ve told, your flaws, your favourite scents, your childhood, what keeps you up at night, your insecurities and fears. I like people with depth, who speak with emotion from a twisted mind.”
